The Differences

The available features are just as plentiful for these machines as they are for fully integrated washing machines. While most washing machines are average about £300-350, there are those models that can cost as much as £1200. Your budget will ultimately determine which features are available, but so will how energy efficient the semi-integrated washing machine will be.
Some of the important features to look for are programming options, capacity, spin speed, and energy efficiency. Many of today’s premier brands, such as Miele and Bosch, offer semi-integrated washing machines with over a dozen programming options. There are cycles especially for sports or baby stains, mixed loads, and super delicates. You can also find short cycles, including those that will wash, rinse, and spin a load in fifteen minutes. However, if you are looking for those models that are relatively inexpensive, the basic programming is very adequate.
Most of today’s washing machines are at least 6kg. Some will go as high as 8 or 9 kg, but you’ll pay much for this capacity. In most households, a load capacity of 7kg is quite sufficient.
Spin speed is very important, especially if you want to save time and energy when drying. The faster the spin speed, or the RPM, the less wet your clothes will be at the end of the wash cycle. The average speed is around 1200 RPM and works quite well for most families. However, there are models available with spin speeds of up to 2000 RPM.
Most of the newer models are rated at least an A plus for energy efficiency; however, there are models available with up to AAA ratings. The UK and the rest of Europe are much more adept at conserving energy than some of their North American neighbours. The higher rated semi-integrated washing machines in terms of energy efficiency are usually more expensive.
